Award: Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition 2024 “BEST OF THE BEST”
Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that its gin, “Japanese GIN WABIGIN,” has received the special awards “BEST OF THE BEST” and “BEST CATEGORY” at the “TOKYO WHISKY & SPIRITS COMPETITION (TWSC) 2024” held in Tokyo, following its “Superior Gold” award.
At the TWSC, which boasts one of the largest numbers of entries in Asia, “Japanese GIN WABIGIN” achieved a remarkable feat. Following its “Superior Gold” award, it won the “BEST Category” award—given to the highest-scoring item in the Japanese Gin category—and ultimately the “BEST OF THE BEST”, the highest accolade positioned at the pinnacle of the TWSC.

Special Award Japanese Gin Category “BEST OF THE BEST” & “BEST CATEGORY”
“Japanese GIN WABIGIN” is a Japanese Gin incorporating botanicals nurtured in the diverse natural environment of Kagoshima. It is crafted using a unique method with a total of 11 botanicals: 9 harvested across Kagoshima, including Kumquat, Kesen (Cinnamon), Yuzu, Lemon, Hetsuka Daidai, Green Tea, Ginger, Getto (Shell Ginger), and Shiso, blended with Juniper Berry and Coriander Seed.
TOKYO WHISKY & SPIRITS COMPETITION (TWSC)
The TWSC (Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition) is a whisky and spirits competition originating in Japan, planned and operated by the Whisky Culture Institute. It aims to judge whiskies and spirits from around the world with the deep knowledge and passion of Japanese whisky and spirits enthusiasts, promoting high-quality whiskies and spirits both domestically and internationally. For each entry category, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards are determined based on scoring results judging Aroma, Flavor, Finish, Balance, and Overall impression. Furthermore, products that achieve remarkable scores among the Gold winners are judged and decided by the Executive Committee to receive the “Superior Gold” award.
Special Award “BEST OF THE BEST”
Divisions are selected according to the entered items and the primary judging. Nominated items are chosen from the Superior Gold and Gold winners, and after a blind secondary judging, this award is given to the item with the highest score, positioned as the highest accolade at TWSC.
Special Award “BEST CATEGORY”
Divisions are selected by the Executive Committee, and this award is presented to the item with the highest score in the primary judging conducted by approximately 300 judges.
