South Kyushu Sake & Shochu Awards

Held annually, this competition aims to contribute to the development of the liquor industry by assessing product quality, fostering advancements in manufacturing techniques, and improving the quality of commercial alcoholic beverages. The competition evaluates “Sake” and “Honkaku Shochu” produced within the jurisdiction of the Kumamoto Regional Taxation Bureau (Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima). In addition to serving as a reference for future production technologies, the awards honor outstanding products and Toji (master brewers) with certificates of excellence.
For the 2024 “South Kyushu Sake & Shochu Awards” Honkaku shochu Category, a total of 460 entries were submitted by 148 producers across the four prefectures of Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima.
