Kura Master 2025

PLATINUM & Jury Award

From Ms. Paz LEVINSON, President of the Kura Master Japan Wine Competition Jury

“The wine selected for the Jury Award, the top prize, is full of very fresh aromas, rich in floral scents, the balance of alcohol, fruitiness, and texture is extremely beautiful, and its quality and purity were major reasons it captivated this year’s judges. It is approachable enough to drink every day, yet also possesses varietal purity. I believe Koshu wine is one of such representative wines of Japan.”

GOLD

Brewed primarily from fully ripe Koshu grapes cultivated with great care in Hosaka Town, Yamanashi Prefecture. It features aromas reminiscent of grapefruit and apples, and is characterized by a fine-grained, complex flavor. A full-bodied dry white wine where the subtle oak aroma and fruity, pleasant acidity complement meals.

We are extremely honored that “Chateau Mars Koshu Verdinho 2024” was able to win the “Jury Award,” the top prize, in the inaugural category for “Koshu,” Japan’s indigenous white grape variety. We believe this is the result of our continuous efforts toward quality improvement. We will continue to aim for world-class wine, express our gratitude for the terroir of Yamanashi as Japanese wine producers, and devote ourselves to winemaking through tireless effort and quality enhancement. We sincerely ask for your continued support.

Kura Master

Kura Master is a competition for Japanese sake, honkaku shochu & awamori, umeshu, and Japanese wine, oriented towards the French. Judging is conducted by professionals in the food and beverage industry, including MOF (Meilleur Ouvrier de France) holders recognized by the French state, top sommeliers from first-class hotels, barmen, cavistes (wine merchants), and professionals from restaurants, hotels, and culinary schools. The judging places a strong emphasis on “the pairing of food and drink.” Through various events, it provides a platform to appeal to the French and other European markets. The Japan Wine Competition was held for the first time this year with the aim of widely introducing the unique character and potential of Japanese wine to French sommeliers and wine industry professionals.
