Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that our Honkaku Shochu “Yakushima Daishizenrin Mugi” has achieved the remarkable feat of winning the “TROPHY,” the highest award in its category, for the second consecutive year at the prestigious International Spirits Challenge (ISC). As a shochu distillery rooted in Yakushima, we are extremely delighted, proud, and deeply grateful that the Honkaku Shochu from “Yakushima Denshogura,” which has operated for over half a century, has received this honorable award for two years in a row.
To commemorate this award, we are specially releasing the genshu (undiluted shochu) of “Yakushima Daishizenrin Mugi.” This is a special, limited-edition product of Yakushima Mugi Shochu Genshu.

Product Description

“Genshu Yakushima Daishizenrin Mugi” is an exquisite Mugi Shochu Genshu produced on the World Natural Heritage island of Yakushima. It is made using 100% Kagoshima-grown two-row barley, the soft water of Yakushima, and traditional handmade kame (jar) preparation. It is characterized by a rich, sweet, and roasted aroma reminiscent of “Mugi Choco” (chocolate-covered barley puffs) and a mellow, honey-like flavor. The package design is a work by Ms. Yuko Takada, an artist living on Yakushima.
