Product Description

Honkaku Shochu “Mukau” is a rare Honkaku Imo Shochu produced at our handmade shochu distillery, “Yakushima Denshogura,” located on Yakushima Island. It is an Imo Shochu made using traditional, handmade kame (jar) preparation, using “Shiroyutaka” sweet potatoes from Yakushima, the soft water of Yakushima, and Japanese kame (jars) dating back to 1887 for both the first and second fermentation stages. Furthermore, this Imo Shochu Genshu (undiluted shochu) is aged. The genshu is quietly stored in kame (jars) for over a year in a cool, stable environment inside a zuido (tunnel warehouse) at the foot of Mt. Tachu on Yakushima, completely shielded from light. In addition to the charm of a handmade Imo Shochu, we deliver this genshu exactly as it is, aged in the embrace of Yakushima without a single drop of water added.
