Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd. proudly announces the release of the “Single Malt KOMAGATAKE 40th Anniversary Special Edition,” commemorating four decades since the completion of the Mars Komagatake Distillery.
Established in 1985 in Miyada Village, at the foot of Mt. Kisokomagatake in the Central Alps of Nagano Prefecture, the distillery stands amidst lush nature. Blessed with a cool climate and pristine water, our whiskies mature slowly in the quiet passage of time, as we continue to craft a diverse range of malt spirits.

The “Single Malt KOMAGATAKE 40th Anniversary Special Edition” is a special single malt whisky that expresses the distillery’s 40-year history in a single bottle. Commemorating this milestone, it was created by vatting malt whiskies from four decades: the 1980s, 1990s, 2010s, and 2020s (excluding the silent period of the 2000s).
Crafted with malt spirits aged in diverse casks such as ex-Bourbon Barrels, Sherry Casks, and American Oak Casks, it is bottled non-chill filtered to deliver a taste closer to Cask Strength. Experience a multilayered aroma where sweetness evoking apple jam, ripe apricot, and melon intertwines with scents of vanilla and oak aging. The palate offers flavors of raisin and maple syrup, cinnamon spice, and a richness reminiscent of sweet chestnut and chocolate.

About Mars Whisky
Hombo Shuzo began Whisky production in Kagoshima in 1949, launching a full-scale operation in Yamanashi in 1960 under the design and guidance of Kiichiro Iwai. In 1985, the Mars Komagatake Distillery was completed in Miyada Village, Kamiina District, Nagano Prefecture, following the relocation of distillation equipment. Although the distillation of malt spirits was suspended during a period of stagnant demand, production resumed in 2011. The year 2016 marked the completion of the Mars Yakushima Aging Cellar in Yakushima as a barrel storage facility, and the Mars Tsunuki Distillery in Minamisatsuma City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Today, as a Whisky maker with two distilleries and three aging facilities, we continue to craft high-quality whiskies.
