The birthplace of Hombo Shuzo
Tsunuki Kishogura

In Kaseda, Minami Satsuma City, "Tsunuki" is nestled in the lush green valleys of the southwestern Satsuma Peninsula. Here lies the distillery that can be considered the very origin of our company, passed down since its founding. "Tsunuki Kishogura" continues to carry forward the passion and dedication to shochu-making, embodying the belief that "the craftsmanship is precious." On the premises, historic stone warehouses, evoking a long history, still stand and are used today as storage for aging raw spirits.

"A Distillery Where the Proud Craftsmanship Thrives"

Imo shochu-making that honors and preserves the traditional techniques passed down through generations. The process is infused with a deep respect for the craftsmanship, as if the very essence of life is breathed into the ingredients by the hands of the master brewers. The brewing process involves the traditional "Kame-tsubo" fermentation method, using old-fashioned clay pots. It’s a process that sharpens the brewer’s five senses, allowing them to listen to the breath of the fermenting mash as they patiently await the perfect moment for distillation. This "noble craftsmanship" is the distillery’s dedication to upholding the proud spirit of master artisans.
