Presented to Their Majesties Emperor Showa and Empress
Takaraboshi is one of the oldest brands at Hombo Shuzo. In 1927, the new-style shochu Hoshi was awarded the prestigious Grand Gold Medal at the Japan Brewing Association. The following year, the distillery was honored with the privilege of presenting two jars of shochu to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress. Following this recognition, the trademark was changed to "Takaraboshi," and it gained popularity as a new-style shochu (now known as kōrui shochu) with a clean and refreshing taste, distinct from the traditional old-style shochu (otsurui shochu, now referred to as honkaku shochu). It continues to be beloved by many to this day.

A Pure Continuous Distillation Shochu
The defining characteristic of Takaraboshi is its refined and pure flavor. Through repeated distillation, the shochu achieves a smooth and clean taste, free from any overpowering aromas or flavors, resulting in a light and soft mouthfeel. Its crisp, sharp finish makes it an ideal base for chuhai or cocktails. When served on the rocks with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice, it reveals a variety of delightful flavors, offering endless possibilities for enjoyment in your preferred style. We invite you to savor its versatility.
