MARS whisky brand made from malt spirits distilled at the Mars Komagatake Distillery. This Japanese whisky bears the name Komagatake, inspired by the towering mountain in the Central Alps where the distillery is located.

Pristine water and abundant nature

We established our distillery in 1985 at an elevation of 798 meters on the slopes of Mount Komagatake in the Central Alps of Nagano to find the ideal environment for whisky production.
This region is cool and deeply shrouded in mist. Rain and meltwater from the 3,000-meter-class mountains seep through the granite soil, becoming high-quality water rich in natural minerals.
The distillery was built to craft authentic whisky that embodies Japan's unique terroir. It stands amidst the beautiful, deep green forests at the foot of Mount Komagatake in the Central Alps.
It rests in the silence of the clear air.
