"MARS The Y.A." is a Japanese whisky that embodies Hombo Shuzo's pursuit of the ideal whisky-making process. It combines malt spirits distilled at Shinshu Komagatake and Tsunuki, the birthplace of Hombo Shuzo, with aging in the magnificent natural environment of Yakushima.

With abundant rainfall—so much so that it’s said "Yakushima experiences 35 days of rain each month"—and a warm climate with an average annual temperature of around 20°C in the lowland areas, Yakushima offers a unique environment for whisky aging. The Mars Yakushima Aging Cellar is also exposed to sea breezes from the coast lined with uplifted coral reefs to the east. These conditions differ from those at Komagatake and Tsunuki, providing a distinctive environment for the aging of the whisky.
