Hosaka Koshu Barrel Aging
Barrel-Aged Koshu from Hosaka
Hosaka district in Nirasaki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, is located at the foot of the vast Chigayama mountain, which rises from the northwestern corner of the triangular Kofu Basin, representing a grape-growing region for wine production in the prefecture. The southwest slopes of the mountain foothills at elevations of 400 to 700 meters belong to the "sunshine hours" are long and "low rainfall cool climate zone," and grapes nurtured by the natural environment brought by the "winds running through the foothills" and "slightly viscous soil" have a "high concentration" and "strong backbone" flavor. Using Koshu grapes from Hosaka, this wine is aged in French oak barrels. This white wine, harmonizing the rich flavor of barrel aging with a subtle oak aroma and gentle sweetness, is a masterpiece.
