After harvesting kai-noir grapes in the Hosaka district, we conducted barrel aging. The wine, which has a deep reddish-purple color unique to kai-noir, harmoniously combines deep berry aromas with oak notes. It is a red wine with a rich fruity flavor and a slightly strong acidity that is characteristic of it.
Grape variety kai-noir: The grape variety "kai-noir," which was selected by crossing Black Queen with Cabernet Sauvignon and named in 1990, combines the former province name "Kai" and the French word for black, "Noir."
The name means "black grapes born in Yamanashi Prefecture" and embodies the wish for it to become a representative red wine grape variety in Japan.
