Kame maboroshi Tsubo
Aged and Bottled in Traditional Clay Pots
This is a shochu distilled at Hombo Shuzo's Chiran Distillery using Satsuma sweet potatoes from Minami Satsuma, Kagoshima Prefecture, and black koji, called "Koganesengan." This genshu (undiluted shochu) is stored and aged in the "Ishigura" (stone storehouses) that line Tsunuki, the birthplace of Hombo Shuzo. By storing and aging the shochu in these stone storehouses, which maintain a consistent temperature throughout the seasons, a refined, soft, and mellow taste with nutty aromas and a matured flavor is achieved. This shochu is aged in kame (earthenware jars) in the Ishigura.
