This is a shochu made from the koganesengan variety of sweet potatoes, as the name suggests, and is a long-aged imo shochu aged for over seven years with the genshu as it is.
It has a mellow and rich aroma, a calm and elegant soft mouthfeel, and a taste of maturity. Made from the koganesengan variety of sweet potatoes, one of the leading producers of sweet potato in Kagoshima Prefecture, and produced at the Hombo Shuzo Chiran Distillery, this is a rare imo shochu genshu that has been stored as it is.
The koganesengan variety is said to be the sweet potato known as Agricultural and Forestry No. 31, born in 1966. The skin color is yellowish-white, the flesh color is light yellow, the shape is a downward swollen conical shape, the characteristics are rich in starch, the yield is high, and it is consumed quite a lot as a starch raw ingredients and for food. Above all, it is highly valued as an imo shochu raw ingredients, and even now, most of the satsuma imo shochu is made from this variety of sweet potato.
