MARS MALT Le Papillon Double Cask Yakushima-ruri-shijimi
Double Cask Single Malt (469 Bottles)
"MARS MALT Le Papillon" is a series that expresses the beauty of Japan's diverse climate and environment that shapes the maturation of whisky, using butterflies that inhabit Japan as motifs.
This product, themed after the southern blue-winged butterfly "Yakushima Blue", features a vividly blue and radiant appearance, reminiscent of the southern sea, and is a blend of two bourbon barrel-aged genshu whiskies that have been vatted and diluted.
Distilled at Mars Komagatake Distillery (formerly known as Mars Shinshu Distillery) in 2015, this single malt whisky matured in Mars Yakushima Aging Cellar is a masterpiece.

One place I often took them to was Terayama Park in the northern part of Kagoshima City. It was a fun collecting point where we could see various species of butterflies, and among them, the small 'Yakushima Blue' butterfly was often caught in the collecting net. It is a delicate butterfly with a deep and vivid blue color, reminiscent of the southern sea, among the blue butterflies. From the malt matured on the southern island of Yakushima, which is also the origin of the butterfly's name, two barrels were vatted and diluted to create a single malt whisky that expresses the beautiful
