MARS MALT Le Papillon Single Cask Aosuji-ageha
Single Cask Release (215 Bottles)
"MARS MALT Le Papillon" is a series that expresses the beauty of Japan's diverse climate and environment that shapes the aging process of whisky, using butterflies that inhabit Japan as a motif.
The second release features the "Blue Admiral" butterfly, which is widely found in Honshu and southern Japan. Inspired by its appearance of flying in the summer of Minami Satsuma with black wings and a blue-green band, a medium-peated genshu aged in bourbon barrels was carefully selected.
This single cask whisky is made from a 2013 distilled malt spirit aged in the stone warehouse of Mars Tsunuki Distillery, emphasizing the flavor of barrel aging, bottled at natural cask strength, and non-chill filtered.
K. Hombo: "The Blue Admiral butterfly, agilely flying from flower to flower in the hot summer of Minami Satsuma, was a formidable opponent for me, a young insect enthusiast. Its exotic blue lines stand out in a beautiful way, reminding me of the summer scenery of my childhood running around the countryside with a net in hand. From the medium-peated Shinshu distilled malt, bourbon cask, and the unique environment of Tsunuki's stone warehouse, I chose a cask that evokes the summer of Minami Satsuma."
The label artwork is created by artist Tomoko Nakajima, who resides in Kagoshima.
