"MARS MALT Le Papillon" is a series that expresses the beauty of Japan's diverse climate and environment that shapes the maturation of whisky, using butterflies that inhabit Japan as motifs. The featured butterfly in this product is the medium-sized butterfly "Kujakucho" that mainly inhabits mountainous areas north of Nagano in Honshu, with a peacock pattern on its wings that inspired its name. This whisky, matured in sherry casks and heavily peated, was carefully selected from a single cask to embody the distinctive appearance of the butterfly with red wings and large eye-like markings.

Distilled in 2016 at Mars Komagatake Distillery (formerly known as Mars Shinshu Distillery), this single cask whisky is a gem bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill filtered, and made from malt spirit.

"The highland flowers are dwindling, the daylilies and bellflowers have turned brown. Only a few faded blue thistles remain. Suddenly, a bright red butterfly spread its wings.
