"MARS MALT Le Papillon" is a series that expresses the beauty of Japan's diverse climate and environment that shapes the maturation of whisky, using butterflies that inhabit Japan as motifs. The fifth edition, themed after the "Miyama Karas Ageha" found in various parts of Japan, including Nagano Prefecture, was selected from medium-peated genshu matured in American white oak barrels, imagining the beautiful sight of the butterfly fluttering with its large shining green wings.

Distilled at Mars Komagatake Distillery (formerly known as Mars Shinshu Distillery) in 2014, this single cask whisky, bottled at natural cask strength and non-chill filtered, emphasizes the flavor of barrel aging.

"During my elementary school years, I spent every summer vacation in Shinshu. Under the intense sunlight of the highlands, the biggest catch for the insect-loving boy exploring from morning to evening was the Miyama Karas Ageha. Its size, striking colors, and agile flight truly exuded a regal presence. Setting up a net and repeatedly challenging that admired butterfly to a duel, the seemingly eternal summer vacation passed by... Even now, inhabiting various places including Shinshu, this butterfly, often described as the most beautiful in Japan, surely makes the hearts of many insect-loving boys flutter."
