The beautiful landscapes and abundant nature brought about by Japan's climate and topography, changing with the four seasons, enhance the maturation of whisky and enrich its flavor. The "MARS MALT Le Papillon" series expresses the splendor of the natural environment by featuring butterflies native to Japan.

In order to commercialize single malt whisky from a precious cask aged for a long period at Mars Komagatake Distillery (formerly known as Mars Shinshu Distillery), the label design for "MARS MALT Le Papillon" was commissioned to artist Takahide Komatsu, a resident of Miyazaki Prefecture, in October 2019. He created a total of 365 pieces covering 257 species of butterflies inhabiting Japan.

Skillfully using the traditional technique of the "Rinpa" school, each valuable original artwork was meticulously finished and adopted for the whisky label, making it a special edition whisky.

This whisky is a genshu aged for 30 years in American white oak barrels, distilled in 1990 using the first pot still operated at Mars Komagatake Distillery.

Bottled at natural cask strength and non-chill filtered, you can enjoy the matured flavor that only whisky aged over time can bring out.
