In 1985, seeking the ideal environment for whisky production, Hombo Shuzo established Mars Komagatake Distillery (formerly Mars Shinshu Distillery) in Miyada Village, Kamiina District, Nagano Prefecture.
Distilled based on the vision of Kiichiro Iwai—designer of our pot stills—the whisky has matured at the foot of Mt. Komagatake in the Central Alps, embraced by majestic nature.
"Single Malt KOMAGATAKE 1986 AGED 30 YEARS Sherry Cask Natural Cask Strength" is a rare 30-year-old single malt. It is a vatting of just two Sherry casks of malt whisky distilled in 1986.
This bottle, which has journeyed alongside the history of Mars Komagatake Distillery, offers a highly fragrant, elegant aroma. It features dense, sweet scents reminiscent of ripe plum, and a mature flavor reflecting the depth of its 30-year history.
The label features the artwork "You who wept face down still carry the faint scent of summer fruits - Ikuko" by the renowned Japanese painter Yasuharu Ikenaga.
