When it comes to fruits that herald spring on Yakushima, the “tankans” are king. Yakushima farmers carefully cultivate fresh tankans, which are then used to craft sake with “Yakushima Senju Natural Yeast,” harvested from the island's forests. This sake has a refreshing aroma and a gentle sweetness reminiscent of tankans.
The artwork on the packaging and label is by Kyoko Kurotobi, a Yakushima-based artist. Tankans are a specialty product of Kagoshima Prefecture, and Yakushima's tankans are specifically designated as a "Kagoshima Brand" product.
