WINE

The universal culture
Wine

Wine, a globally shared beverage that transcends language barriers.

Its history dates back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, where records show the love for wine. Wine offers various charms, from grape varieties and production regions to historical backgrounds and cultures.

The personality of wine is shaped by terroir, grapes, people, and the passage of time. At Mars Wine, we not only reflect the characteristics of grape varieties in our wines but also strive to express the individuality of regions and vineyards determined by terroir through grape variety characteristics.

Yamanashi Terroir

The “Chateau Mars” brand is made from grapes grown in Hosaka, Shirane, Isawa, and Makioka districts in the following cities: Nirasaki, Minami-Alps, Fuefuki, and Yamanashi. The unique characteristics of each region are reflected in its wine.
We cultivate our grapes using methods and varieties adapted to the soil. We cultivate unique grape varieties at our own farm, “Hosaka Hinoshiro Farm,” as well as in other areas.

Aiming for Wines That Resonate Worldwide

In pursuit of winemaking that leverages the rich and diverse Japanese climate, "Mars Yamanashi Winery" was established in 1960. As a brewing base for further quality improvement and a winemaking hub, "Mars Hosaka Winery" was opened in the grape-producing region of the Hosaka District in 2017.

Bringing New Value to Japanese Wines

The Western liquor brand "MARS" from Hombo Shuzo, named after the image symbol "star" since its founding, was named "MARS" through public recruitment and began selling. Since then, under the brand name "Mars Wine," the company has humbly listened to the soil and climate of this region and has been striving to create wines that resonate worldwide.

This journey has led to recognition in wine competitions both in Japan and internationally, continuing the challenge of creating new value for Japanese wines.
