Mars whisky Asagimadara

The Miracle of Amber

Amber whisky's color and flavor come from barrel aging. The clear, colorless liquid, called new make, is produced during distillation and becomes amber as it ages in barrels, developing deeper flavors and aromas. Barrels vary due to differences in wood type and size. As whisky ages, it absorbs the wood's components. The degree and type of maturation vary based on storage position within the warehouse. Entrusted to nature, this process gives birth to a diverse array of amber spirits.

The History of Mars

The company obtained its whisky production license in 1949 and started distilling whisky soon thereafter with the help of advisor Kiichiro Iwai. The company built a whisky distillery in Yamanashi in 1960 (which later became the Mars Yamanashi Winery) to increase production of spirits, particularly whisky, and the brand name "Mars" was chosen through a contest. The company continues to produce whisky under the Mars Whisky brand.
